    Skills: Gathering and Crafting

Post by Mask of Illusion on Fri Nov 07, 2014 12:31 pm

As those of you who have managed to get into the game to test may have noticed, there's a tab in the top right corner for skills with a set of various combat, gathering and crafting skills that players can now learn and train.

Skills are a way of furthering your characters progression, allowing them to master one craft or utilize several. They're just a little addition to regular roleplaying games on BYOND to allow players to have more depth to there characters and to give them something to do if they fancy a change of pace.

Skills allow the user to contribute to the global economy which is no longer led by NPCs, you cannot buy clothes from the shop or anything like that. Instead you'd need a Tailor to make clothes for you or take from somebody.

So yeah, this is just a little way to keep the forum active and to involve people who haven't had a chance to test the game yet. Let me know what you think, feedback is always welcomed as I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter!

I'm a little sad that I was working during the last test, but that does sound pretty cool. From the sounds of it, it'll be a 'master of one' or 'expert of many' type thing right?

Sounds fun. Although I hadn't even heard there was a testing day earlier. How should I figure out when test days occur, in the future?

Very nice implementation. This will surely lead to active roleplay.

Sounds like a great idea to me, very immersive if used correctly too.

Just got a question: Is my tester application denied or still on delay? Because I couldn't enter into the game and I applied when I was told to. Just kind of wondering if I'm on delay that's all.

I've put everyone who applied only to be a tester into the tester list, so they can access the server and I've moved their applications over to the closed forum.

Everyone who applied for a position AND to be a tester, are currently still in the list while I think about how to deal with the applications as I'm not hiring the team until the game's more complete.

Well. You call say in the commentary that you accept them to be a tester but that they are still on delay for the rank until you decide - that would fix it perhaps?

Indeed it would, wasn't sure whether it was worth splitting the applications just to make it easier or not though. I just haven't had the time lately and I've kept forgetting about it, I shall take a look at them shortly. As it is, the game's not really in a playable state at the minute as the only way to gain magic is to be born with it or to be given it by an Admin.

Once I've got more content in, I'll get the game up on a Shell Server and I'll better organise it so people can test it whenever they like.

That seems like the best idea, take your time my friend and hopefully this time it won't crash down; the last version was amazing and hopefully this version will be just the same. - No, I know it will be amazing, may we see each other in-game or sometime soon. Smile
